The Brazilian Internet Forum is annually promoted by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) since 2011 as a preparatory activity for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) . It aims at bringing together participants from government, private sector, academia, civil society and Internet users to monitor and discuss issues that are central for the consolidation and expansion of a diverse, universal and innovative Internet in Brazil, and which reflects the principles of freedom, human rights and privacy as stated in the CGI.br's Principles for the Governance and Use of the Internet.

About CGI.br

The Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.br) has the mandate to establish strategic directives related to the use and development of the Internet in Brazil and directives for the domain name registry, the allocation of Internet addresses (IPs) and the administration pertaining the country code top level domain ".br". The Committee also promotes studies and recommends procedures for Internet security, as well as organizes research and development programs aiming at maintaining the technical quality level and innovation in the use of the Internet.Since its creation in 1995, the CGI.br is grounded in a multistakeholder model which gathers diverse segments from society and government.
